Botox
Most people have heard of Botox injections and it’s, by far, our most popular injectable treatment to date. You may notice small lines around your eyes and mouth from years of frowning and squinting. Botox helps target these lines and treats the underlying cause – repeated muscle contractions. By temporarily reducing the muscle activity in these areas, the lines are smoothed out, leading to smoother, wrinkle-free skin.
Most patients receiving Botox will see the best results within 10-14 days following the injection, with results generally lasting about 3 months. However, lighter dosing that results in a more natural look may only last about 6-8 weeks. Because Botox takes time to stop or weaken the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles, results are not always immediately apparent.
Restylane
Restylane is a type of dermal filler that contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance that keeps your skin hydrated and plump. Fillers are typically used to correct volume loss in the face as a result of aging and provide facial contouring of the cheeks, chin, and jawline. Restylane is very versatile and can work in a variety of ways. It can be used to smooth out lines, plump thinning lips, and add fullness to the cheeks.
Restylane is not a permanent filler, so you’ll want to get more rounds of injections to see longer-lasting results. Because the product adds volume when injected, you can see some immediate effects with full results usually within a week. The filler will last anywhere between 6 and 18 months depending on the type of Restylane treatment you receive.
Dysport
Dysport is another type of injectable used to smooth lines in between the eyebrows. Like Botox, Dysport works by reducing muscle activity in the treated area. Dysport is only injected into five points between your eyebrows, allowing for the rest of your face to move naturally. Your facial expressions are not affected, only the lines. Dysport is only recommended for people with moderate to severe frown lines. Full effects can be seen after just a few days, with results lasting between 3 and 4 months.
Kybella
Kybella is another injectable used to improve the appearance of moderate to severe chin fat, or a double chin. Kybella injections contain a naturally-occurring substance called deoxycholic acid, which helps break down fat cells in the chin, leading to a more define jawline and reduction of fullness underneath the chin. Kybella injections can be used on anyone suffering from a double chin.
Unlike other cosmetic procedures, Kybella in permanent. Most patients will need 2 to 4 treatments about a month apart to see full results. Once you have achieved your desired outcome, you will no longer need any subsequent treatments. Treatment usually takes under 30 minutes and about 82% of people report satisfactory results in the appearance of their chin.
